This document, written by CNV Internationaal, clarifies:

  • the context in which coal mining is developing today at national and international level,
  • the consequences of an exit of coal multinationals without a transition plan,
  • the importance of involving workers in a fair process.

It explains the trajectory, focus and proposals of the Workers' Collective for a Just Transition, made up of trade unions from the Colombian mining region, Sintracerrejón, Sintracarbón, Sintradem, Sintramienergética and Sintradrummond.

This analysis aims to contribute to a just energy transition in the coal mining value chain from a labour perspective. It proposes routes from the perspective of the unions who are part of the Worker’s Collective for a Just Transition.
